IIT GATE 2026 Exam : Short Details of Notification

GATE 2026 Eligibility

• Candidates who have completed or are currently in the final year of Bachelor’s degree programs in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts such as B.E., B.Tech., B.Pharm., B.Arch., B.Sc. (Research), B.S., M.Sc., M.A., MCA, M.E., M.Tech, Dual Degree or Integrated courses are eligible as per respective year-of-qualification criteria.[web:262]
• There is no upper age limit specified for appearing in GATE 2026.[web:262]

GATE 2026 Photo, Thumb & Signature Instructions

• Photograph: Good quality latest passport size colour photograph with white or light-coloured background; face should occupy at least 75% of the photograph with full face, front view and eyes open.[web:262]
• Thumb Impression: Draw rectangular box of size 3 cm × 5 cm on A4 size sheet and put clear left thumb impression within the box using proper ink (as per brochure).[web:262]
• Signature: Draw rectangular box of size 2 cm × 7 cm on A4 sheet and sign with black / blue pen in running handwriting completely within the box.[web:262]

How to Fill IIT GATE 2026 Online Form

• IIT Guwahati released GATE 2026 notification and invited online application through GOAPS portal from 25/08/2025 to 28/09/2025 (regular period) and up to around 09/10/2025 with late fees.[web:262][web:263]
• Candidate must first register on GOAPS with valid email ID, mobile number and create password, then fill personal details, educational details and select GATE paper and exam city preferences.[web:266]
• Kindly check and collect all documents – Eligibility proof, ID proof, Address details, Category certificate, PwD certificate (if applicable), and degree / college details.
• Kindly ready scan documents – Photo, Signature, Thumb Impression, ID proof and other documents as per GATE 2026 brochure.[web:262]
• Before submitting the Application Form, must check the preview and all columns carefully and then pay the examination fee online.
• If candidate has not paid the required application fee within due dates, the application form is treated as incomplete and will be rejected.
• Take a print out / save PDF of final submitted form for future reference.

GATE 2026 Result & Score Card – Key Points

• IIT Guwahati has declared GATE 2026 result on 19 March 2026; candidates can check their result by logging into GOAPS at goaps.iitg.ac.in using Enrollment ID / Email ID and Password.[web:257][web:260][web:264]
• The GATE 2026 scorecard displays candidate details, paper code, marks out of 100, GATE score (out of 1000), All India Rank (AIR), qualifying marks and validity of score.[web:257][web:260]
• As per reports, downloadable official GATE 2026 scorecard (for COAP / CCMT counselling and PSU recruitment) will be available for download from a later date (tentative from 27 March 2026) without additional fee, and later with a fee for extra download period.[web:261]
